Here is the List of Top 10 developers or programmers in the world:
1. Dennis Ritchie
Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie was an American computer scientist.
He created the C programming language and, with long-time colleague Ken Thompson, the Unix operating system and B programming language.
Ritchie and Thompson were awarded the Turing Award from the ACM in 1983, the Hamming Medal from the IEEE in 1990 and the National Medal of Technology from President Bill Clinton in 1999.
Ritchie was the head of Lucent Technologies System Software Research Department when he retired in 2007. He was the "R" in K&R C, and commonly known by his username dmr.
2. Bjarne Stroustrup
Bjarne Stroustrup is a Danish computer scientist, most notable for the creation and development of the C++ programming language.
He is a visiting professor at Columbia University, and works at Morgan Stanley as a Managing Director in New York.
3. James Gosling
James Arthur Gosling, often referred to as "Dr. Java",OC is a Canadian computer scientist, best known as the founder and lead designer behind the Java programming language.
Gosling was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering in 2004 for the conception and development of the architecture for the Java programming language and for contributions to window systems.
4. Linus Torvalds
Linus Benedict Torvalds is a Finnish-American software engineer who is the creator and, historically, the main developer of the Linux kernel, used by Linux distributions and other operating systems such as Android.
He also created the distributed version control system Git and the scuba dive logging and planning software Subsurface.
He was honored, along with Shinya Yamanaka, with the 2012 Millennium Technology Prize by the Technology Academy Finland "in recognition of his creation of a new open source operating system for computers leading to the widely used Linux kernel.
He is also the recipient of the 2014 IEEE Computer Society Computer Pioneer Award and the 2018 IEEE Masaru Ibuka Consumer Electronics Award.
5. Anders Hejlsberg
Anders Hejlsberg is a Danish software engineer who co-designed several programming languages and development tools.
He was the original author of Turbo Pascal and the chief architect of Delphi. He currently works for Microsoft as the lead architect of C# and core developer on TypeScript.
6. Tim Berners – Lee
Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee, also known as TimBL, is an English computer scientist best known as the inventor of the World Wide Web.
He is a Professorial Fellow of Computer Science at the University of Oxford and a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Berners-Lee proposed an information management system on 12 March 1989, then implemented the first successful communication between a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) client and server via the Internet in mid-November.
7.Brian Kernighan
Brian Wilson Kernighan is a Canadian computer scientist.
He worked at Bell Labs and contributed to the development of Unix alongside Unix creators Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie.
Kernighan's name became widely known through co-authorship of the first book on the C programming language (The C Programming Language) with Dennis Ritchie.
Kernighan affirmed that he had no part in the design of the C language ("it's entirely Dennis Ritchie's work").
He authored many Unix programs, including ditroff. Kernighan is coauthor of the AWK and AMPL programming languages. The "K" of K&R C and the "K" in AWK both stand for "Kernighan".
8.Ken Thompson
Kenneth Lane Thompson is an American pioneer of computer science. Thompson worked at Bell Labs for most of his career where he designed and implemented the original Unix operating system.
He also invented the B programming language, the direct predecessor to the C programming language, and was one of the creators and early developers of the Plan 9 operating system. Since 2006, Thompson has worked at Google, where he co-invented the Go programming language.
9.Guido van Rossum
Guido van Rossum is a Dutch programmer best known as the creator of the Python programming language, for which he was the "benevolent dictator for life" (BDFL) until he stepped down from the position in July 2018.
He remained a member of the Python Steering Council through 2019, and withdrew from nominations for the 2020 election.
10. Donald Knuth
Donald Ervin Knuth is an American computer scientist, mathematician, and professor emeritus at Stanford University.
He is the 1974 recipient of the ACM Turing Award, informally considered the Nobel Prize of computer science. Knuth has been called the "father of the analysis of algorithms".
He is the author of the multi-volume work The Art of Computer Programming. He contributed to the development of the rigorous analysis of the computational complexity of algorithms and systematized formal mathematical techniques for it. In the process he also popularized the asymptotic notation.
